Level 1 Network & Server Technologist

Based in Calgary , Alberta, you will work in a globally distributed, very motivated team of network operations engineers with GNSS and IT background, who remotely operate GNSS reference stations across Canada. You will leverage industry knowledge and experience to guide through creative and transformational uses of new technologies to deliver world class service and support in a cost effective and predictable manner.
Manage a network of reference stations throughout Canada;
  • Design, maintenance and improvement of server infrastructure at our colocation in Calgary;
  • Responsibility for network architecture, redundancy schemes and routing configuration;
  • Implementation and ongoing support of industry standards;
  • Independently resolve critical technical issues promptly, perform root cause analysis, document all issues, and implement steps for future mitigation;
  • Able to program modems, receivers, routers and switches;
  • Co-Location server support working under IT Engineer;
  • Competent in solving remote connectivity issues in the field;
  • Working with local ISPs and site IT services;
  • Communication skills for tech support.


  • Junior IT experience.  College / Tech grad;
  • 3+ years of hands-on, recent, professional working experience in networks, servers and/or security;
  • Network certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+, CCNA or comparable training or knowledge;
  • Server certification such as MCSA or comparable training or knowledge;
  • Proven experience in Windows Server administration;
  • Ability to use service related technology and basic computer functions;
  • Valid driver’s license is required, clean driving record and  background check;
  • Ability to work on a team;
  • Problem solving skills;
  • Computer use competency in Microsoft products;
  • Customer service skills;
  • Travel required throughout territory (Western Canada: Manitoba to BC) and travel can be up to a week (amount of travel can vary 25 to 50%).
  • Work hours flexibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline;
  • Trimble product knowledge a plus;
  • Experience with precision agriculture and geospatial hardware a plus.
